I win!!

I finished the Honeymoon Cami, I was knitting for the Knitting Olympics, at around 6pm Saturday night. I still had hours to spare before closing ceremonies. It's a huge relief to be done with it. I'm so glad it was a super easy knit. I have tons of left over KnitPicks Shine, and I'm wondering what I could do to maybe add a little embellishment to the piece. Maybe a flower or something.

The greatest thing happened on Thursday. The pattern called for #6 circulars and straights. I went out and bought the circulars because that's what I needed to get started. I had totally forgotten about the straight needles until I arrived at that part of the pattern. Crap. I was at work when I discovered this, so I figured I'd go on with my day, go to my parents house straight from work and workout, then head out to buy some straight 6's. My mother called me at work and told me that she had a surprise for me. I love surprises, but who doesn't? When I got to her house she handed me a shirt box. I opened it up to find all of my Grandmother's old knitting needles and crochet hooks. There has to be at least 2 of every size in there. It's crazy. It was like hitting the knitting jackpot. I totally won. There were the size 6 straights I needed!! I was a little worried about working with the metal needles, but it turns out they weren't as slippery as I had remembered. Funny how things work out like that.

KICKBALL!

I'm doing it.

That's right. I'm putting my money where my mouth is and starting a Kickball league this summer for the Bay Shore area. I have lots of interested people, and the energy and desire to make this happen! I've been dabbling around photoshop to come up with a logo/poster/sign-up sheet. Above is what I have thus far. Stay tuned for details and throw me a comment if you're interested.

I can't wait for 11:11.

I can't stop watching the minutes go by on this website.

Check it out for yourself and you'll see why.

New Years Resolution, 2 months in.

I've decided I need a make over. A do over. A re-do. A new beginning. A fresh start.

I've finally looked deep inside myself and was actually able to discover my faults, my assets, and everything that makes me, me.

I cannot wait to breathe, think, and act as the new me. I already feel happier, healthier, and more mature, after an awakening that only sleepless nights could evoke.

At 25, I've finally realized what life is about. And I'm going to live this one like there's no tomorrow.

Nothing left for me.

I really have to quit spending so much time on other people. It's killing me. All I ever do is try to make everyone else happy. Where's my happiness? I get built up, then crushed.

I'm losing myself.

And it hurts.

Olympics.

The knitting olympics officially begins in one hour.

Is it normal to be nervous?

hahahaha.

Good thing we're getting a blizzard this weekend. What better reason to stay in and knit?

Ready, GO!

Broadstreet Mittens for Anthony. Finished. Finally.

Slippers for Mom's Birthday. Lion's Brand Chunky Pattern. I changed it up a bit. It was my first sock-like adventure.

Update.

Ack.

With that said, it's been almost a week since I updated. Bad Suzy! Here we go.

(I began writing this post yesterday, never published it, now I'm finishing it...)

Progress report:

I should be finished with Anthony's Broad Street Mittens either tonight or tomorrow at approximately 1:30pm (aka: the end of my lunch break). I AM FINISHED!!! I'm siked, and seeing as I've been working on this project for what seems like forever, I'm also very relieved. Can you believe I never found that other mitten? Stupid. Leave it to me to do double the work.
I worked on them Monday night while Anthony read Running with Scissors to me. We bought (not, brought, sorry, inside joke--well, not really a joke) it this weekend and began reading it Saturday night. We take turns, he reads a chapter, then I read a chapter. It's fun, and cute, and cozy.

So I finished the mittens last night while playing Trivial Pursuit. I know it was kind of rude for me to knit while playing a board game, but it just had to get done. I still haven't knit my swatch for the KNITTING OLYMPICS which starts Friday night!!!!! Ack! I told Jen that I was just going to go in blind, but she insisted that I get some training time in. I totally agree with her, but stupid me, I left the yarn at home, so I can't knit a swatch at lunch. Doh!! I guess I could do it tonight.

OH! Tonight I'll post pics of the mittens and the slippers I knit my mom. Then I'll knit a swatch. Then I'll go to Anthony's and do laundry and eat pasta. Then I'll probably re-write this whole post b/c it's dumb.

Loss of words...

I told Jen that I couldn't watch the State of the Union address last night for fear of projectile vomiting all over our new carpet (it's just the instant reaction I have to hearing Bush's voice). I planned on reading the transcript when I got to work today. Instead, the first thing I read was about how Cindy Sheehan got arrested for wearing a tee-shirt to event.

FOR
WEARING
A
TEE-SHIRT!!

That's the largest font I can get, and it doesn't even come close to emphasizing how outraged I am about this. For the real story from Cindy, read here.
